Description
Until a few years ago most States’ Civil Aviation Authorities focussed on safety improvements per aviation domain (airworthiness, operations etc.) by addressing safety issues as they appeared. This course will highlight in 7 modules why a more comprehensive approach is needed. Not only because the aviation domains are more and more interrelated, but also because safety improvement is a responsibility of all key stakeholders, not only the Civil Aviation Authority itself. Once the course is finished the participant will receive a certificate for her/his personal training file. (Providing a SSP introduction to CAA staff is also an ICAO requirement.)
For Civil Aviation Authorities we can, when sufficient licences are purchased, tailor this course to meet specific national needs.
Dr. Hazel Courteney has worked in aviation for over 30 years, including aircraft design, human factors, ATC, and safety regulation; she also flies light aircraft in her spare time. Her PhD is in aviation safety regulation, and in recent years her work has focused on Safety Strategy, Safety Assurance and Safety Management. She was Chairman of the ICAO international Panel that produced Annex 19 on Safety Management and the State Safety Programme (SSP), and has Chaired other key groups at UK CAA, such as the Accident Analysis Group and Safety Action Group, and at European level, the Human Factors Steering Group. She was responsible for the UK State Safety Programme and the first published CAA Safety Plan, plus key involvement with safety planning in EASA. Now, Hazel is supporting clients around the world to implement aviation safety systems including SSPs and the associated Safety Improvement projects.
This course highlights the importance and different elements of a (mandatory) State Safety Program. If this course is provided to your staff, a certificate is issued when finished and the questions have been correctly answered the organisation has met the ICAO requirement on ‘ making the staff aware on the SSP and related issues”.
For companies requiring 30 or more course licences, TATA can also provide a comprehensive course management service, including monitoring, evaluating and planning functions.
